Basic Product Attributes
DOWSIL™ 3140 is a one-part, translucent room-temperature vulcanizing (RTV) silicone coating with excellent flowability, flame resistance (UL 94 V-1 certified), and electrical insulation properties. It requires no mixing or added solvents, enabling fast in-line processing.
Product Description
DOWSIL™ 3140 cures via moisture to form a flexible elastomer, achieving over 90% physical properties within 24–72 hours at 25°C. Its low viscosity (34,400 cP) allows self-leveling or filling narrow gaps, with UV indicators for automated inspection. Compliant with IPC-CC-830B and military standards (MIL-A-46146), it is ideal for electronic protection in harsh environments.
Special Properties
Flame Resistance: UL 94 V-1 (1.4 mm thickness) and HB (1.9 mm thickness) certified.
Electrical Properties: High volume resistivity (2.1×10¹⁴ ohm·cm) and stable dielectric constant (2.52 at 100 Hz–100 kHz).
Adhesion: Excellent adhesion to reactive substrates (metals, ceramics, glass) but requires pretreatment for non-reactive surfaces (e.g., polypropylene).
Cure Acceleration: Heat below 60°C can accelerate curing.
